Beach 5s Australia New Zealand is dedicated to creating an inclusive and enjoyable “Summer of Footy” that can be played by everyone, regardless of gender or age.

Established in 2018, we are now in our eigth year. In the summer of 2026-2027, we will tour some of the most iconic beach destinations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and New Zealand.

Beach 5s is not just a game, it’s an on-sand hybrid of Rugby Union and Rugby League, designed to bring fun and excitement to players and spectators in the warmer months of the year. It’s the perfect off-season competition, combined with the love of the beach.

Beach 5s is a contact sport of tackle, no scrums / no line outs, on a pitch that measures 31m x 25m – “Five” players in the field of play – up to “Seven” reserves with unlimited interchange.
