Beach 5s Rugby New Zealand presents the 3rd annual
Beach 5s Rugby Festival Mount Maunganui
6 to 8 December 2024
Beach 5s Rugby New Zealand and our partners are excited to announce the 3rd annual Beach 5s Rugby Festival to be held at the magnificent Mount Maunganui with an extended programme to cater for our growth. On the later afternoon of Friday 6 December, we will be running our Seniors competition into the early evening on the beautiful Mount Main Beach.
On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December we will be running our juniors competition. We anticipate splitting the competition into older junior age group on Saturday 7 December, with the younger age groups playing on Sunday 8 December.
Beach 5s Rugby is a 5 aside sand-based competition based on modified rules of rugby union, rugby league and touch football, with no line-outs, scrums or conversions. It’s the game you know, but not as you know it!

Event Days
- Late arvo / early evening Friday 6 December 2024 – Seniors (Mens and Womens)
- Saturday 7 December 2024 full day programme – older juniors (Years 12 & 13 boys, Years 12 & 13 girls, Year 11 boys, Year 11 girls, Years 9 & 10 boys, Years 9 & 10 girls)
- Sunday 8 December 2024 full day programme – younger juniors (Years 7 & 8 boys, Years 7 & 8 girls, Years 5 & 6 boys, Years 5 & 6 girls)
Team Categories and Entry Fees:
- Premier Beach 5s Men’s / Premier Beach 5s Women / Mens Social / Mens Masters (30 yrs plus):
- Early bird entry fee $400 per team (maximum 12 players) for entries received to 8 September 2024 (no deposit, full payment required)
- Special entry fee of $450 per team (maximum 12 players) with $100 deposit for entries received to 30 October 2024
- Late entry fee of $500 per team (maximum 12 players) for entries received 1 to 19 November (full payment required)
- Youth Beach 5s (Years 5 and 6 boys, Years 5 and 6 girls, Years 7 and 8 boys, Years 7 and 8 and girls, Years 9 and 10 boys, Years 9 and 10 girls, Year 11 boys, Year 11 girls, Years 12 & 13 boys and Years 12 & 13 girls):
- Entry fee of $280 per team (maximum 12 players) with $100 deposit for entries received to 30 October 2024
- Entry fee of $280 per team (maximum 12 players) for entries received 1 to 19 November (no deposit, full payment required)
Plus winners of Seniors categories receive FREE Team Entry to another Beach 5s events of their choice (Australia).

*Full refunds will be provided should there be any reason that this event may not be able to run, or postponed. The event organisers reserve the right to amalgamate divisions, within safety regulations, due to cancellations or reduced entries in some age divisions.
